Ohio boasts many innovative aerospace and aviation research organizations dedicated to advancing Ohio’s growing aerospace industry.  These organizations work to bolster industry partnerships that will lead to groundbreaking aerospace propulsion and aviation research.  Leading aerospace and aviation organizations include:

The Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI) is a membership based, nonprofit organization focused on growing Ohio’s aerospace economy. With office locations near the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OAI drives technology development and commercialization by providing world-class sponsored research, partnerships, education, training, networking, and information exchange to support Ohio’s growing aerospace sector.

OAI has managed more than $200 million in research and education programs and has built a membership base of 75+ small/large companies. No matter where you’re located, OAI can help you quickly make connections into this key aerospace sector.

The Wright Brothers Institute (WBI) serves as a primary point of contact for research and development opportunities at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. WBI facilitates innovation in aerospace through technology collaborations between scientists and engineers at AFRL and the Aeronautical Systems Center, universities, industries, and businesses.

Avetec is a nonprofit, collaborative research organization located in Springfield, Ohio. Avetec is one of three organizations that make up the National Aerospace Leadership Initiative. Avetec is building a collaborative modeling and simulation capability and initiating educational partnerships to prepare a skilled future workforce.

The Ohio Center for Aerospace Propulsion and Power (OCAPP) is among the foremost propulsion related research institutions in the nation dedicated to advanced research in this field. OCAPP brings together the capabilities of seven Ohio universities, key industries within the state, and the two Ohio Federal Laboratories. OCAPP has been a major catalyst in the development of propulsion technology in the state of Ohio.

The Ohio State University is establishing a comprehensive multidisciplinary Power and Propulsion Institute focused on research and technology development as well as commercialization and education related to aircraft propulsion, land- and marine-based power generation, wind turbines, energy needs, and the environment. The Institute’s 35 faculty members will be working with government labs and industry experts.
